VIP Staffing is looking for a qualified Residential & Commercial AV installation Technician. Candidates must possess at least 2 years’ experience in residential and/or commercial AV system integration and operation. Certifications from manufacturers such as Crestron and/or others is a strong plus.
Daily Roles, Responsibilities, Requirements:
Self-starter able to take the lead on project implementation
Interaction with clients, general contractors, electrical contractors, etc.
Read and interpret one-line drawings, as-builds, diagrams, cabling pull sheets, submittals, and specifications to understand designed operational functionality of the system
Oversee the pulling and terminating low voltage cable of all types used in voice/data cabling, AV and security solutions.
Testing low voltage cable of all types
Voice/Data cabling experience a plus
Install equipment into 19” racks in accordance with rack elevation drawings
Upload and test programming code into racked equipment
Load and unload trucks, ability to climb ladders / lifts
Must be able to lift 100 lbs unassisted
Abide by OSHA safety regulations
Job requires driving to different job sites. Installers are required to make daily reports of jobsite progress to the Project Manager by phone or email
Must pass background check, pre-employment drug test and have an acceptable driving record
System testing to insure equipment functionality
Deliver executive level customer service and support to all clients
General Power on all audio visual systems as required for use that day
Perform brief startup testing to ensure equipment in fully functional
Provide support coverage for any AV-IT related equipment
Troubleshoot any connection issues with Audio Visual systems
Perform preventative maintenance on all related equipment
Perform routine testing and problem diagnosis
Ability to test equipment and perform basic troubleshooting
Ability to think and work independently and meet deadlines
Effective interaction with employees and colleagues
Cable Terminations – ability to Crimp, Compression and Punch-Down connections for audio, video, network, control, and power devices.
Cable Media – ability to distinguish Coax, Mini-Hi- Res, Copper, Multi-Conductor, CAT-6, and Fiber Optic Cabling.
Cable Handling – ability to maintain proper cable pull techniques, knowledge of American Standard Code regulations for Plenum and Non-Plenum rated cables.
Rack and Field Termination – ability to maintain uniform cable dressing and secure system connections.
Equipment Mounting – ability to physically perform the mechanical skills needed to mount AV Equipment such as PTZ Wall Cameras, LCD and Plasma Wall Displays, AV Rack Components and Multi-Purpose Monitor Display Arms.
Equipment Configuration – ability to program and adjust system configurations to major AV components such as AV Routers, Scalers, Converters, Control Processors and Touch Panel devices.
Performing installation and integration functions in Residential & Commercial/Pro Audio Video industry
Strong knowledge in the areas of installation, service, testing and maintenance of projectors and related equipment
Knowledge of residential & commercial construction methods, I.E. what type of wall framing and structural engineering is here in order to perform the job
Pro-Audio systems including installation of speakers, speaker systems, DSP devices, automated and manual mixers, mixing consoles, EQ’s, compressor/limiters, speaker processors and other outboard gear associated with installation of pro-sound systems.
Accessory equipment such as “pop-ups” in conference tables, floor boxes, in-ceiling camera systems
Wireless systems – LAN, control and other devices
Termination. Including: RJ45, DB9, HD15, RCA, BNC, and other compression, crimp or solder on terminations. Fiber termination, installation, and splicing a plus but not required
Familiar with Ethernet (LAN) technologies.
Familiar with installation of video conferencing equipment.
Rack building and associated wire management.
