Our Downtown Houston area client is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for their fast-paced manufacturing facility
Job Summary: Provide a wide variety of duties involving numerous trades in the maintenance and repair of company facilities, equipment and machines working under the direction and guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Primary Functional Responsibilities:
Identify, troubleshoot and repair simple to moderate mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical problems on production equipment and support systems.
Performs preventative maintenance per established intervals/schedule in a timely manner and documents concerns/resolutions on the PM documentation for the Maintenance Supervisor to review.
Provide simple to moderate emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production as needed to reduce/minimize equipment downtime and production delays.
Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and clearly communicates this to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Perform basic pipe fitting duties as required.
Be safe and proficient with different types of material handling equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and motorized pallet jacks.
Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, face shield and proper gloves where appropriate.
Use a variety of measuring instruments including micrometers, verniers, depth gauges and machinist square.
Maintain work area as well as machines, tools and equipment in a safe, neat, clean and orderly condition.
Perform all job functions in accordance with established operating procedures.
Identify and assist in remediation of any and all safety hazards in the work place.
Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor
Basic understanding of CNC milling machines, saws and flame cutting equipment or the demonstrated ability to learn in a timely fashion.
Basic to moderate functional knowledge of mechanical components (valves, pressure regulators, pipe fittings, bearings, belts and belt drives, gearboxes, etc.)
Basic to moderate ability to read and understand schematics, mechanical prints/drawings, hydraulic schematics.
Be able to work both independently and in a team environment completing tasks efficiently and with a sense of responsibility.
Understand and enforce safe work practices, such as but not limited to, LPOTO, working at heights, working with compressed gasses, forklift hoist safety and others as deemed necessary according to company policies.
Be detail oriented and able to follow written instructions for log taking and data recording/reporting as necessary.
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Must be able to be certified to operate a forklift and use hoists to pick up heavy parts.
General computer skills
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; 2 – 5 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in machine shop environment.
Language Skills: Ability to read and understand both written and oral instructions, e.g. safety notices and rules, operating and maintenance instructions, etc.
Mathematical Skills: Demonstrated understanding of and ability to apply basic shop math functions.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; bend; walk; crawl; kneel; crouch; climb stairs; use hand/fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; lift from arm level; turn head sideways, up and down; read and write. The employee must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, mid-range vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Annual eye examinations may be required.
Capable of standing while operating equipment up to 12 hours daily
Willing and able to work overtime as required
Willing to work any shift as necessary
Work Environment: The work environment is representative of those in a standard machine shop environment including extreme cold and heat.
Pay Rate: $18-$19/hr DOE
