Summary:

Under general supervision, is responsible for supportingn Information Technology team; will ensuring successful delivery of IT services as defined in the duties and responsibilities. This position will represent the in a professional and effective manner and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers,

Duties and Responsibilities:

Applies subject matter knowledge in the area of Database Engineering

Possesses well developed skills in design, development, implementation and management of databases

Develops database architectures to address business requirements, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability

Designs database applications such as interfaces, data transfer mechanisms and data partitions to enable efficient access of the generic database structure

Creates plans for architecture updates and integrates new systems with existing warehouse structure to refine performance/functionality

Administers Microsoft SQL Server Instances within the Azure Cloud platform, including IaaS and PaaS environments

Administers the migration of SQL instances to PaaS cloud services

Writes codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures

Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process

Troubleshoots errors, manage resource allocations, and ensure adequate utilization of all database environments

Configures reliable database backup configurations and ensure successful operation

Defines, configures, and maintains security profiles/roles that effectively manage user permissions

Leverages an expertise of database technologies, along with solid programming, design and system analysis skills

Performs other related technology duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant degree, 3-5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Strong knowledge of stored procedures, data batch processing, and data as a service; strong knowledge of SQL and SSRS (SQL Server 2008-2016)

Strong skills in administration of Microsoft SQL Server with an emphasis on Microsoft Azure Cloud based platforms including IaaS & PaaS

Advanced Skills in Microsoft SQL always on and clustering technologies

Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner across functional and technical departments, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, stakeholders, employees, Elect, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general public

Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test Must have available transportation during entire workday

Required to travel to remote sites within Bexar County

Must have valid driver’s license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance Required to be on call 24 hours

May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek May be required to work weekends

This position may need to satisfy the requirement of completing and passing an assessment during the employment process

Preferred Certification/License:

CompTIA Security+ SQL Database, MCDBA, or other equivalent certifications
