Desktop Support Field Technician Opening, San Antonio, TX

The organization is looking for a motivated, technically oriented person to join its administrative team as a full-time -IT Assistant. This permanent, full-time position is located in its San Antonio office.

The organization is an Agricultural Research Organization established in 2007. The Foundation operates six branches across approximately 217,000 acres of south Texas rangelands making it one of the largest private landowners in both Texas and the nation. With administrative offices in San Antonio, the Foundation deploys a staff of over 40 throughout south Texas to meets its mission to promote the advancement of land stewardship through ranching, science, and education.

About the Position:

The IT Assistant supports voice, data, video, security, and web technologies for approximately 40 employees across south Texas including cell phones and desk phones, computers, audio visual needs, and internet connectivity. The IT Assistant is part of a team that includes internal partners and external vendors (Knight Office Solutions, AT&T, Dell, Adobe, ESRI, and others).

Responsibilities:

Normal activities include, initial basic technical support, technical support monitoring and tracking, vendor management, audio visual support, end user training, and overall administrative technical support for the Foundation. The IT Assistant will swiftly escalate any complex technical problems to the managed network services provider but continue to support internal users until their technical issues are solved.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Follow up and track IT service requests to completion.

  • Schedule meetings via Zoom and Teams, including administrative team meetings, staff meetings, and leadership team meetings.

  • Maintain technology inventory and warranty information.

Vendor Management:

  • Organize purchases, shipments, invoices and returns.

  • Partner with Accounts Payable on payment of vendor invoices.

  • Coordinate scheduling and delivery of vendor service and maintenance.

  • Support yearly vendor review process, including service level agreements, contract renewals, and contract modifications.

Technical Assistance:

  • Answer calls for technical support and comfortably answer first level tech support questions.

  • Trouble shoot hardware issues.

  • Track and assist the managed network services vendor Help Desk, dispatching techs, and tracking internal satisfaction.

  • Ensure IT resources are organized , up-to-date, and readily available to employees.

  • Purchase technology assets for employees and coordinate setup and install with managed network services provider.

Audio Visual Support:

  • Confirm that AV conference room setups are ready for scheduled and unscheduled meetings.

  • Coordinate with staff to support AV requirements for upcoming meetings.

  • Work with internal and external presenters to ensure AV equipment performs properly during their presentations and events.

  • Provide as needed support for meetings with AV requirements.

Training:

  • Facilitate staff installation and training for the Foundation’s technology resources including smart phones, tablets, desk phones, computers, accessories, videoconferencing, internet connectivity, the Office 365 suite, Adobe, and other software.

  • Identify internal and external resources for peer networking and training.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or advanced training in IT or office administration preferred.

  • Experience with the Office 365 suite of applications including Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel required.

  • Experience with Adobe preferred.

  • Familiarity with records management software and contacts database preferred.

  • Familiarity with Apple and Microsoft PC systems preferred.

  • Strong telephone and interpersonal skills required.

  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail required.

  • Strong self-motivation, willingness to follow instructions, and good communications skills required.

Travel: Occasional overnight travel is required to support the technology needs of the Foundation at its office in Hebbronville and the San Antonio Viejo ranch headquarters.
