PLC Programmer

Electrical design, PLC/HMI programming, wiring, troubleshooting, installing and training customer personnel on safe operation of machines is a daily requirement. We seek a motivated industrial electrician that is willing to get his hands dirty and get the job done to join and complement our team.

Job description:

The EE/PLC programmer/Industrial Electrician will have the ability to estimate, design, document, install, assemble and test electrical components and systems on custom machinery built by ACT.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to read, write and understand machine operational expectations in English and layout a working controls package with PLC or relay logic as lay out and install hardware, wire back panels, and program PLC’s such as Allen Bradley Siemens and IDEC.

  • Effectively draw wiring schematics to NEC standards in CAD.

  • Effectively utilize actuators, solenoid, switches, timers, sensors, fusible disconnects, lasers, encoders, VFD’s. heating elements, motors and other such modern hardware to control, utilize and protect machine operations and operator.

  • Constantly willing to learn new technologies and be involved in robotics design, automated material handling systems, data logging and machine troubleshooting and support via the cloud.

  • Dedicated to supporting production by working in a safe, customer focused manner with excellent housekeeping.

  • Learn and understand ACT’s systems in order to become an asset to the Customer Service Department by being able to trouble shoot and fix issues over the phone, over the internet or at the customer’s site.

Physical:

  • Lift and move objects to 50 lbs. each

  • Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head

  • Occasionally push or pull carts loaded with products up to 100 lbs.

  • Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists

  • 20/20 vision (correctable)

  • Walking or standing in the ship for 10-12 hours

  • Climb stairs, ladders, ramps to access all areas of the ship and systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree from higher education college or university or vocational school with focus in electrical field.

  • 5 years’ experience in electrical field

  • Clean driving record and US citizenship with no prior felony convictions or has had or can still access Government installations and is not barred from future access

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task/time manage and prioritize many different projects and meet hard schedule deadlines

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal in English) with peers, management, vendors and customer. Spanish speaking as a second language a plus

  • Must be highly self-motivated

Experience:

  • Industrial Electrician 5 years
