Mon-Friday 8am-5pm

Responsibilities:

• Compare identifying information and counts, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records

• Determine method of shipment. Communicate with transportation company to negotiate shipping costs

• Maintain appearance and cleanliness of the work area

• Maintain all proper safety requirements including, but not limited to, use of back support belts, proper lifting techniques and operation of equipment

• Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons

• Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers

• Insert items into containers

• Bind containers with tape, metal straps or plastic wrap

• Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers

• Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage

• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications

• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies

• Operate tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area

Qualifications:

• Verbal and written English communication skills; interpersonal skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain cooperative working relationships

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to communicate effectively on a one-on-one basis or in a group setting

Education:

• High School education; and six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
