The Estimator provides estimates and bids for HVAC and mechanical projects for institutional, educational, and commercial projects.
Selected candidate must fully understand pipe and duct details, system sizing/calculations/capacities; equipment selections, best piping and design practices, green building and alternative energy solutions, design and coordination drawings, code compliance and related design data.
Reviewing and understanding plans and specifications.
A major part of this position is to review documents and identify project bid requirements, scope of work, critical schedule and sequences, non-standard work conditions, cost impacts, material and equipment data, safety and compliance requirements, risk management and special requirements. Taking off piping systems, equipment and material with estimating software, and identifying labor and material costs. Preparing proposal letters, cost breakdowns, etc.
Must concurrently bid and/or manage multiple projects.
Create a detailed estimate with appropriate material, labor and sub-breakdowns; setup budgets and schedule of values for AIA billings.
Manage bid process from documents and design through job kickoff meeting. Assist PM’s with document compliance, sub/supplier selection, design submittal, RFI’s, bulletin quotations and negotiations; effectively coordinate with PM/Foremen.
Ideal candidate will need to establish and manage healthy customer relationships; have professional and effective communications skills; proactive in conflict resolution.

Will directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
Reviews status reports and modifies schedules and plans as required.
Prepares project status reports and keeps management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.
Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems. Coordinates and responds to requests for changes from original specifications.
Monitors project results against technical specifications.
Develops and maintains technical and project documentation and or correspondence. Direct system commissioning.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management required or related field and eight years of previous experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
HVAC estimating experience with strong background in design/build work, plan and spec work, performance contracting and project management experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
