Re: Litigation Paralegal
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the managing partner, the paralegal provides executive support in a one-on-one professional relationship working with Firm Partner(s) and attorneys, as well as other assigned staff. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and work independently in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Drafting legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, and client and government agency correspondence.
- Prepare legal documents, review, and research cases, and perform basic duties like scheduling appointments, maintaining, and updating files, preparing for court, and scheduling interviews.
- Draft affidavits and prepare for depositions.
- Calculating and calendaring of all case deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies and adjusters regarding cases.
- Maintain organization of all court cases, hearings, depositions, and other court-related material.
- Proofread, and file legal documents prior to deadlines.
- Attend meetings while taking and consolidating notes.
- Schedule court depositions, hearings, and other meetings as determined by an attorney.
- Maintaining your individual daily billable hours on all matters, accurately entering time, and journal entry of activities into Clio.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Strong analytical and organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
- Legal research skills and knowledge of various legal and governmental databases.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with court personnel, SLHA staff, and external business partners.
- Possess a professional demeanor with effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be effective independently.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Strong Paralegal background: 5+ years of experience in a law firm, preferably serving public entities and clients.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) Clio, Next Point, or other E-Discovery platforms, Adobe Acrobat, and Apple computers and devices/MacOS and other programs.
