Industrial Maintenance Technician
Job Summary:
The Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing extrusion, thermoforming, and auxiliary equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will apply their knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems to ensure optimal machine performance while prioritizing safety and efficiency. This role also involves training colleagues, performing root cause analysis, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Pay rate: $22+
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize electrical and mechanical prints, schematics, and technical documents to perform maintenance tasks.
- Inspect new equipment and spare parts upon arrival, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Safely operate electronic instruments like multimeters to measure voltage, current, and impedance.
- Follow safety-first procedures and ensure equipment is maintained to avoid mechanical hazards.
- Train colleagues on proper equipment operation to prevent accidents and improve overall safety.
- Assist with the purchasing and testing of new equipment, making recommendations based on machine operation knowledge.
- Perform routine maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns and malfunctions.
- Evaluate, upgrade, and improve equipment to increase efficiency and performance.
- Work with AC/DC drives, high and low voltage systems (110, 220, and 480 volts).
- Collaborate with management to maintain optimal maintenance performance.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities to track equipment lifespan.
- Comply with safety standards and electrical codes.
- Assist in moving, installing, and repositioning machinery.
- Support mechanical engineers in design and maintenance tasks.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in maintenance.
- Perform root cause analysis to resolve equipment problems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in extrusion, thermoforming, and auxiliary equipment.
Required Experience:
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience or a two-year degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar field).
- Experience with AC/DC drives, PLCs, servo motors, and encoders.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing circuit diagrams.
- Knowledge of mechanical maintenance processes and procedures.
- At least 1 year of experience working with Fanuc robotics systems.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Experience with high-speed mechanical equipment, including gears, pulleys, and bearings.
- Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, and the ability to solve related equipment issues efficiently.
- Experience using shop tools such as cutting saws, drilling machines, grinders, welding machines, and acetylene torches.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with colleagues and management.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics and hydraulics.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics (mechanical/electrical).
- Familiarity with welding, fabrication, and shop equipment operations.
- Working knowledge of 5S methodologies to maintain workplace organization.
Schedule Requirements:
- Flexibility to rotate between 2nd and 3rd shifts with other team members.
- Training schedule: M-F 8 AM to 5 PM, transitioning to a regular schedule including one weekend day (e.g., Sun-Thu or Tue-Sat).
- On-call availability for nights or weekends as needed.
