The candidate will be accountable for personally handling all industrial pipefitting and pump installations, in addition to supporting the plant on all other mechanical maintenance activities when not assigned capital project work. It is truly a dual-responsible role, one that will be at times more pipefitting focused, and at others primarily maintenance and plant support related. Willingness to do both is critical.
This role reports directly to the Plant Engineer and Plant Manager and may have additional direct reports to support.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your primary responsibilities willy will be to oversee daily capital project execution while ensuring policies and procedures are strictly adhered to for maintenance and contractor personnel under your watch. To accomplish the primary responsibility, you will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
- Industrial Pipefitting – Run new and modify existing chemical and utility transfer lines. Includes combination of Tig Welding stainless lines, stick welding any carbon steel lines, and combination of threaded / welded pipefitting, as designed by plant engineer. Will be responsible to support operations clean/prep equipment for line break/hot work, and define any safety equipment, welding consumables and actual pipe/fitting inventories required to adequately perform tasks.
- Plant Maintenance – Ensure all rotating equipment (pumps, mixers) are in sound working condition. Make recommendations and help implement routine preventative maintenance program for plant, supporting plant engineer as needed.
- Confined Space Entry – Will act as lead entrant on majority of vessel entry/repairs on site. Must have experience with these types of entries.
- Procurement – Size, select, price-compare and purchase industrial equipment (pipe, steel, fittings, flanges, fasteners, rental equipment, welding and related safety supplies)
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by VP Manufacturing or executive leadership.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 5+ years of proven TIG welding experience on stainless pipe (certifications preferred)
- 5+ years of structural stick welding
- 5+ years of proven industrial plant pipefitting required. Combination of structural and pipe welding, along with threaded pipe fitting know-how.
- Experience operating boom lifts, forklifts and cherry-pickers (a must)
- Rigging experience & training working around cranes (preferred)
- Ability and willingness to work from heights (a must)
- Experience with confined spaces (preferred)
- 5+ years of proven hands-on experience in industrial plant environments, supporting maintenance activities with proven experience rebuilding/maintaining industrial equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, mechanical seals, compressors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers.
- Experience with OSHA guidelines, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Working from Heights, Line Breaking (a must)
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of safe work practices, incident investigation techniques, permit to work systems, management of change and safety & environmental regulations.
- Calm, yet effective ability to facilitate efficient cooperation between departments, customers, suppliers, and management.
- Proven ability to develop plans with the facility, measure progress and hold team accountable for deliverables.
- 24-7 support mentality of plant and customer issues/emergencies
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to meet the physical requirements of the position including but not limited to able to lift up to 55 lbs., stand/sit/walk for extended periods of time, squat/kneel, climb stairs/ladders, able to grip/grasp/pinch and reach overhead, work in a variety of environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.)
