Job Description: Manufacturing Operator/Mechanical Technician 

 

Summary: 

 

Manufacturing Operator/Mechanical Technicians operate the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and perform basic maintenance and some fabrication of equipment while maintaining a safe work environment. These specialized associates work closely with our Engineering and Operations teams. 

 

General Duties: 

 

• Ensures a safe work environment by following company health and safety guidelines and policies. 

• Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment by ensuring all health and safety guidelines are followed. 

• Operates and services several types of company equipment including slurry reactors, thermal dryers, mechanical grinders, material conveyance systems, heat exchangers, chillers, blowers, CO2 gas lines, instrumentation, and related electrical equipment. 

• Prior experience/ability to work on PLCs is a plus. 

• Troubleshoots company equipment. 

• Ensures company equipment is maintained, tested, calibrated and operated according to company’s standard operating procedures. 

• Monitors manufacturing processes and procedures in accordance with the organization’s quality control plan. 

• Ability to work in fast paced environment. 

• Effectively communicates with all personnel, including other technicians, engineers, project managers, directors and customers in a professional manner. 

• Accurate reporting of all scheduled duties assigned by Management. 

• Monitor e-mails, text messages and phone calls during working hours and 24 hours when responsible for after hour on-call duties. 

• Ensures proper documentation and communication is completed in a timely and accurate fashion. 

• Performs other related duties as required. 

 

Requirements

 

• High school diploma or equivalent required 

• Post-secondary education such as a Technical School or equivalent preferred. 

• Minimum of three years of related technical/mechanical experience. 

• Experience in prior manufacturing environments desired 

• Working knowledge of fabrication equipment, welding application and equipment is an asset. 

• Communicates with clarity, verbally in one on one or group situations, and over the telephone. 

• Ability to apply rational thought and understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions. 

• Ability to make needed decisions while following company procedures. 

• Ability to act proactively or find a solution with work-related problems. 

• Ability to effectively build relationships with customers and co-workers. 

• Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. 

• Ability to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds. 

• Forklift operation experience desired 

• Properly use and clean a wet/dry vacuum. 

• Read digital weight scale. 

• Read and measure volumetric quantities. 

• Identify and use appropriate hand tool for the job. 

• Screwdriver, crescent wrench, wire cutters, pliers, sockets, ratchets, wrenches, etc. 

• Identify and use appropriate power hand tools for the job. 

• Drill, circular saw, jig saw, pneumatic nail gun, reciprocating saw, grinder, impact drill, etc.
