Responsibilities 
The Manufacturing Engineer candidate should be self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment. This position will support both new and existing products and play a key role in the development and support of manufacturing operations as well as help to upgrade current manufacturing test and assembly methods for key products. This position will have close interaction with Production, R&D, Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain. Communication with outside engineering and contractor resources may also be required. Candidate must have strong verbal and written reporting skills that enable the effective communication of activities. 
Manufacturing Operations 
  •   Identify and solve production/quality issues.
  •   Plan and develop processes and capacity utilization strategy for assembly operation of Mechanical and electrical components.
  •   Ensure production readiness of key processes.
  •   Design experiments to develop optimum production processes – manual assembly, automated assembly, press operations, automated inspection, testing, etc.
  •   Troubleshoot root cause for equipment and process related problems.
  •   Develop appropriate secondary manufacturing processes.
  •   Create work instructions & procedures and update existing processes/procedures.
  •   Conduct time studies, modify BOMs and routings.
  •   Work with suppliers on component issues.
  •   Train operators.
New Product Development and Continuous Improvement Efforts
  •   Define assembly strategy for production.
  •   Design new assembly equipment & tooling.
  •   Participate in PFMEA and/or DFMEA.
  •   Design for manufacturability input.
  •   Collect and analyze data from assembly operations.
  •   Improve existing fixtures and tooling.
  •   Explore & implement cost reduction ideas.
  •   Identify, source, and set up critical spare parts for production cells.
  •   Elevated level of competence and ability to interpret assembly and component drawings and the requirements within.
Education
  •   B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
  •   A minimum of 5 years of high-volume Mechanical or Electronic Manufacturing, preferably for automotive applications
  •   Prefer Six Sigma training or certification.
