Job Title: Optician
Location: KellerPay: $20.00 to $22.00
Job Summary:As an Optician, you will play a crucial role in helping patients achieve optimal vision by guiding them through the process of selecting, fitting, and adjusting eyewear. You will utilize your technical expertise to interpret prescriptions, recommend suitable lens and frame options, and ensure proper fitting for comfort and functionality. Excellent customer service and attention to detail are key as you assist clients in making informed choices while maintaining accuracy in measurements and order processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in selecting eyewear that meets their visual, fashion, and comfort needs.
- Interpret and explain optometrist prescriptions to patients, offering advice on lens options, coatings, and frame styles.
- Measure patients’ facial features, including bridge width and distance between pupils, to ensure accurate eyeglass fitting.
- Adjust and repair eyeglasses to ensure proper fit and alignment.
- Educate patients on proper eyeglass care and maintenance.
- Order lenses from suppliers and ensure timely delivery of products.
- Verify the accuracy of finished eyeglass lenses and perform quality checks on products.
- Maintain detailed records of customer orders, prescription details, and inventory.
- Assist in managing inventory levels, including ordering, stocking, and organizing frames and accessories.
- Stay informed on the latest eyewear trends, lens technologies, and optical products.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols in all aspects of the job.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an opticianry program is a plus.
- State licensure or certification (if required by the state).
- Proven experience as an optician or in a similar customer service role within the optical industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of eyewear, lenses, coatings, and optical instruments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and precision in measurements and product adjustments.
- Proficiency in using optical tools and equipment.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of insurance and billing processes related to optical services.
- Familiarity with optical software systems for processing orders and maintaining records.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods while assisting customers.
- Manual dexterity for handling delicate instruments and products.
- Visual acuity for inspecting lenses and frames.
