Production Supervisor Opening, San Marcos, TX

We are now hiring for a Production Supervisor for a Manufacturing company in San Marcos, TX. This position is starting ASAP! Please submit your resume to this posting and call our office at 830-629-2525. 
Pay: $24 base pay + $2 night shift differential
Schedule: Thursday night (Friday) 1:00am-7:00am & Friday-Sunday 7:00pm-7:00am
This position is for a weekend night shift. 
Description:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the scheduling, material handling and assembly/production of finished product for assigned production cells.  This position is also responsible for demonstrating a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, employee engagement and maintaining a cost-effective operation.  In addition, the Production Supervisor is central to ensuring a positive workplace culture for all company associates.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  1. Work with the Operations Manager to develop, maintain production flow and procedures.
  2. Handles routine personnel issues including training, coaching and counseling subordinates
  3. Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring and reviewing job contributions
  4. Monitor’s production/manpower levels within area of responsibility to ensure continued efficiency while anticipating problems and developing contingencies 
  5. Maintain a clean and safe plant
  6. Manage and escalates equipment and product quality issues
  7. Support 5S, Lean Projects and continuously identifies ways to reduce plant operating costs
  8. Maintain a positive work relationship with other departments regarding operations procedures and equipment use
  9. Maintain, evaluates and reports on production performance measures to ensure production efficiency and continued improvement utilizing proprietary Shop Floor Reporting System
  10. Identify and participate in events to continuously improve all plant operations.
  11. Participates in company planning meetings as required 
  12. Work closely with Supply Chain Management team in determining the Daily Production Schedules
  13. Records production and perform backflush within our ERP system on a daily basis
  14. Supervise, Train & Evaluate production staff comprised of employees and temporary staff
  15. Supervise Material Handlers, coordinate material movement within work cells and shop floor
  16. Establish Job Descriptions and Training procedures employees                 
  17. Work with Ops Manager and HR to coordinate the need of temporary employees
  18. Maintain company inventory, scrap, problem and quality records
  19. Work with the Cycle Counters on an as needed basis to validate inventory accuracy
  20. Assists with the annual physical inventory
  21. Report Defective Material issues to the Quality Department on a daily basis
  22. Participate in events on the shop floor to identify area for efficiency gains
  23. Work with Maintenance Dept to implement a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Program
  24. Conduct internal department audits of documentation process during production runs
  25. Requests purchases of equipment, tools, material handling/storage items as necessary for the operation of work cells
  26. Evaluates and identifies the disposition of nonconforming inventory
  27. Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  28. Other duties as assigned as it relates to the essential functions of position            
Education and Experience:         
 
  1. Preferred – Engineering Degree in a related field (Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial).
  2. Minimum -High School Education
  3. Warehouse/Inventory Control experience
  4. MS Office Suite
  1. Bi-lingual/Spanish preferred
  2. Minimum 2 year of supervisory experience required in a multiple department setting
 
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 
  1. Good organizational skills, detail oriented, accurate, dependable, and a self-starter.
  2. Must be capable of assuming responsibility and planning own work to accomplish duties efficiently in a confidential and professional manner.
  3. Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to learn company’s product lines and their component parts.
  4. Must be able to multi-task and exhibit hands-on style of leadership.
  5. Must be able to learn and execute inventory control methods; maintain accurate records on forms and in the computer.
  6. Must have a problem-solving approach to challenges.
  7. Knowledge with continuous improvement concepts and philosophies.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:          
 
   Manage extruder operators and coilers – including but not limited to hiring, training, providing feedback both positive and critical through performance reviews and/or corrective actions
