Job Description: Product Forming Technician (Technology Team)
Summary:
Product Forming Technicians work independently and as part of teams to support in-house research and development activities that involve preparation of precast concrete (prep of raw materials; mixing of materials and forming using lab and pilot-scale presses as well as wet cast molds). Typically, Product Forming Technicians are responsible for activities associated with the preparation of green concrete products (for example, pavers and cylinders).
Responsibilities:
• Operate in-house lab and pilot-scale mixing and forming equipment while paying attention to the behavior of fresh mixes, and their influence to the end product.
• Record mix and form data to batching sheets and keep a well-organized lab book of daily activities for reference.
• Read & carefully interpret experiment/work plans (including batch sheets) provided by project leaders.
• Collect and document quality control data collected during production with accuracy.
• Perform fresh concrete property testing using industry-standard procedures i.e., ACI, ASTM. Follow specific instructions provided by scientists to complete the characterization of green samples.
• Safely operate mixing, forming, and lifting equipment.
• Complete mold installations and changeovers with the assistance of the mechanical/facilities team to the desired product height configurations using the provided manual and safety procedures, while also adhering to deadlines.
• Assist in preparing standard operating procedures for training new employees and cross-training of existing employees to ensure operator-to-operator repeatability and reproducibility.
• Receive concrete raw materials deliveries. Label and store bins correctly for efficient production and better workflow.
• Clean tools, molds, and mixing and forming equipment regularly and maintain proper housekeeping of workspaces.
• Assist with other product quality control/performance-related activities such as sampling and testing of the product after curing.
Requirements:
• High school diploma.
• Previous manufacturing/concrete experience is a plus.
• Hands-on experience is required.
• Ability to complete basic math calculations for batching and problem solving.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to create, read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Physical Environment:
• Job will be performed in the plant environment.
• While performing the duties of this job the team member will be required to stand on their feet for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
