Job Summary:
The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other specialized equipment used in the metal fabrication stamping industry. This role ensures the production of high-quality parts and components by utilizing advanced machining techniques and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Tool & Die Fabrication: Design, construct, and repair tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures to meet production requirements.
  • Machining: Operate various machines, including CNC, milling machines, lathes, grinders, and EDM, to create and maintain tooling.
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints, sketches, and CAD drawings to accurately fabricate parts and tools.
  • Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of tools and dies to ensure optimal performance.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed tools and dies for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve issues related to tool and die performance and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, machinists, and production staff to develop and improve tooling processes.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical school training in tool and die making.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tool and die making, preferably in the metal fabrication stamping industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Strong understanding of CAD/CAM software and precision measuring instruments.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail in all aspects of tool and die making.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment:
  • The position requires working in a manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery noise, metalworking fluids, and physical demands such as lifting and standing.
