VIP Staffing is excited to announce the first-place winner of its annual Fiesta medal design contest, Roger Zamarripa from Edison High School. VIP Staffing surprised Zamarripa with the good news during class where he was awarded a $1000 scholarship. The winning design, featuring the Alamo surrounded by confetti with the main tagline, “Viva Fiesta”, was judged by a panel of VIP Staffing customers who voted for their favorite designs. Scores were based on the contest design criteria of incorporating VIP Staffing’s mission and core value statements, following certain specifications and showcasing the VIP Staffing logo. Additionally, second and third-place winners were awarded via surprise appearances at their respective schools. Second-place winner, Mariel Salomon from Community Arts High School, designed a festive floral tribute to San Antonio and received a $300 scholarship. The third-place winner was awarded to Aaliyah Evans from Holmes High School, who designed her medal with a globe wearing a sombrero hat behind two interlocked hands, winning her a $200 scholarship.
“Our company is thrilled with the entries we received this year. We are very grateful to continue this contest for a
third year, in spite of the pandemic. This year has been a challenge for all of us and we knew we wanted to
continue to make a difference in students’ lives in our community. We hope we can inspire young minds to use
technical skills and to go after their goals, wherever they may be,” said President and CEO, Andrew Himoff.
The scholarship contest was open to any Bexar County high school student and was facilitated through art,
technology and technical departments within the high schools. The contest was such a success, VIP Staffing plans
to continue this program next year.
