Human Resources Generalist – Direct Hire (Located On Site between HQ and Fulfillment Hub in Elmendorf, TX)

Reports to: Director of Human Resources
 
Summary:
 
Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, this role will be based at the corporate office, with 2 days a week at the local plant south of San Antonio, TX. The Human Resource Generalist will own the full-scale payroll process, while supporting the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering benefits, and leave, enforcing company policies and practices, and labor & employee relations.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Process full cycle multi-state, bi-weekly payroll 
  • Update employee records by recording changes including insurance coverage, loan payments, salary increases, terminations, transfers, and promotions. 
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments, including safety training, anti-harassment training. 
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; partners with hiring managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. 
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. 
  • Assist in the implementation and administration of annual performance reviews, compensation program. 
  • Implements new hire orientation, onboarding, and employee recognition programs. 
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. 
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization. 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills. 
  • Excellent time management skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws & regulations. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required. 
Education and Experience:
  • 3+ years Multi State Payroll Experience required, Paylocity strongly preferred. 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • SHRM CP preferred, but not required.
