Desktop Support Technician Opening, SAN ANTONIO, TX

PURPOSE AND CONTRIBUTION:

The Desktop Support Technician is the first line of support for all internal desktop, laptop and other device management and maintenance. He / She are responsible for interacting and supporting all user hardware and software related issues that arise in a responsible, efficient, and timely manner. This position will, at times, require on-call support to perform maintenance activities during non-business hours. This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Self-motivator that manages time well and can manage multiple demanding projects concurrently

• Excellent customer service skills

• Proven analytical problem solving skills

• Experienced in working with vendor support

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Understanding of and ability to interpret process flow diagrams

• Appreciation and ability to articulate the value of change management

• Strong skills associated with Microsoft Office products, in particular with MS Access.

DUTIES & TASKS:

• Take initial calls from end users and work to resolve issues

• Provide users with status of open work requests

• Process new hire, termination, and move requests

• Create profiles for new hires / modify existing profiles when required

• Engage 3rd party vendors when needed and document accordingly

• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues based on priority

• Perform repairs for equipment failures

• Connect new workstations to network and host systems

• Perform equipment moves/upgrades where required

• Perform application software installation

• Perform physical inventories

• Perform data migration services as required

• Assist with desktop/laptop imaging as required

• Assist with audio / visual requests as required

• Identify operational and systematic issues and provide appropriate recommendations necessary to maximize efficiency and improve performance.

• Assist in determining MS Access database memory requirements, processing power, interface and network connections needed

  • Determine appropriate software versions for supporting the Access database application and install where required

  • Monitor and manage centralized data storage to maximize efficiency

  • Assist in establishing processes to ensure data backup

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining access permissions and other security controls for all databases
