JOB SUMMARY:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware and or software as well as responding to queries, running diagnostics on programs, isolating problems and determining and implementing solutions in collaboration and under supervision of the Information Technology Director. This position’s primary role is a Systems Administrator, however there are ample opportunities to learn and develop additional IT skills and knowledge.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor and troubleshoot system backups, networking infrastructure, server infrastructure and server services.

  • Ensure disaster recovery procedures are effective and routinely tested.

  • Manage systems to ensure compliance with security standards and the Purchase Card Industry standards.

  • Ensures point of sale systems are online and able to process transactions during business hours.

  • Provide tier one help desk support as needed.

  • Document IT-related processes and procedures.

  • Analyzes data processing requirements to effectively plan a data processing system that will provide the system capabilities necessary for projected workloads.

  • Works in collaboration to determine limitations and capabilities of the existing system, and the capabilities required for future data processing projects and projected workload.

  • Determines optimal hardware configurations by evaluating a variety of factors such as the number of departments serviced by data processing equipment, volume of transactions, and need for security and access restrictions.

  • Determines, suggests, and plans layout for computers and peripheral equipment, including necessary changes to existing equipment and systems required to ensure efficient operation and effective use of allotted space.

  • Assists users with software, hardware, connectivity, and related issues; provides training on new or modified equipment.

  • Ensures system operates in line with specifications by monitoring equipment functions.

  • Evaluates assigned network and systems for performance, security, and other issues.

  • Other responsibilities and tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications (includes education, skills and experience): Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Associate degree in Computer Technology or related field of study required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • 5 years’ experience in a Help Desk and or Computer Systems Support

  • Experience managing Microsoft Windows 8, 8.1, and 10.

  • Experience managing Microsoft Windows Server 2016, Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP and DFS.

  • Experience managing networks including LAN, WAN, VPN, VALN segmentation

  • Experience managing firewalls.

  • Experience managing Apple products, Microsoft Office 2016, and Point-Of-Sales systems.

  • This position requires frequent manual dexterity in combination with eye/hand coordination such as keyboarding and handling of equipment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Prolonged exposure to a computer screen.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
