The Systems Engineer provides overall leadership, direction, coordination and oversight for all IT and telecommunication related projects, initiatives, services and operations for the ministry. Research, evaluate, develop and implement technology-based solutions with an objective to improve business operations and processes with an emphasis on increased efficiency and decreasing costs. Research, evaluate, implement and maintain technologies in an effort to increase and harden computer network security while improving overall functionality and performance. Implement and maintain Active Director and Exchange Organization.

Essential Duties:

Coordinate and oversee IT systems-related projects, initiatives, services and operation

Advance, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot systems functionality, performance and security for LAN and perimeter network to encompass Internet-facing public services. This process includes researching and implementing new technologies as well as maintaining antivirus solutions for the ministry

Administer, maintain and troubleshoot internal applications

Implement, administer, maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory domain services

Research and implement new miscellaneous technologies

Perform all other functions and duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor, Department Head, and Executive 

General Education : Associates Degree or greater in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering related field

Experience/Training : at least 4 years in Microsoft technologies (Exchange, SQL, Server & Workstation OS); networking technologies and troubleshooting

Licenses, Certificates, Registration : MCSE, MCSA, MCDBA, MCM

Apple/Mac and Windows based servers and workstations; network connectivity and troubleshooting

Strong working knowledge of computer networks, networking concepts, technologies and protocols. Complete and in-depth understanding and working knowledge of MS Active Directory, Exchange Servicer, SQL server and IIS Concepts and technologies. Good understanding of virtual technologies and practices including but not limited to VMWare and Hyper-V

Apple/Mac (Linus) and Windows server and workstations OS experience and understanding; working knowledge an understanding of all Microsoft technologies; working knowledge and understating of networking technologies
