- Clean up your social media – In the digital age, it is not uncommon for employers to browse social media accounts. Employers could decide not to call you back based on your social media posts. Remove posts that may show incriminating behavior or behavior you would be embarrassed for your Mother to see. Update your LinkedIn profile with your current resume focusing on accomplishments.
- Expand your network – You never know when you might meet your next employer. Join a professional network that will help develop you professionally and that will keep your specific skill set up to date. Join groups focused on the industry you want to advance in or that promote the skills you wish to develop. These groups will expand your network and just might put you in contact with your next employer.
- Partner with a staffing agency – Staffing agencies have the resources and expertise to help you update resumes, hone your interview skills and have access to many unposted open positions with a large variety of employers.
